Coming out on The Bay of Tago, there before me, Mt. Fuji
Snow still falling on her peak, a splendid cloak of white.

As for Kazuhisa Kusaba, his work "Fuji ni Unryu" is somewhat linked to the scene of this famous Waka (Japanese Poem), written by Yamabe no Akahito.

On a day in the cold winter, before the dawn,he paddles out into Tago-no-Ura (The Bay of Tago) in a small boat in the drifting morning mist.
In coldness the hands go numb and the breath becomes visible, he slowly paddles the boat while pondering in this quiet time when only the sound of wave strikes him in the ear in an uniform rhythm.
Then the sky gradually lights up and the fog clears up just a little bit.
Then he finds himself in front of excellent Mt. Fuji that is covered with dazzling pure white snow as if she wore white silk.
Coupled with the blue calm sea and tranquil air, the scene is awe-inspiringly divine and overwhelming.
Remnants of fog and thin clouds may have been seen as dragons flying from the sacred mountain.

About this Waka, there are some people who say that, thinking of distance between The Bay of Tago and Mt. Fuji, Yamabe no Akahito might not have been able to see the mountain that clearly and exaggerated the scene with his imagination.
But it doesn't really matter if it's a depiction of an imagination of landscape evoked by a real landscape, or rather, the mind that might have been written in that Waka seems to overlap with what "Fuji ni Unryu" is trying to describe;
A sense of awe for the great and mysterious nature, a strange feeling that our very existence is held in the majestic nature and blends in and integrates with nature, and sense of elation and of omnipotence that our wish will surely come true if we entrust ourselves to nature right away.

From a physical point of view, Mt. Fuji and clouds are just raised lumps of soil and ice crystals with fine dust at the core, but with one mind, it turns into a powerful sacred mountain and a dragon aiming for even higher place from there.
And, it is said that clouds are Qi that the dragon spits out in Chinese legend.
Also clouds are the symbol of the spiritual power of dragons, who grab the clouds and runs freely in the sky, rains and thunders.
The cloud that the dragon flying from Mt. Fuji spited out is a symbol of the will of the dragon itself, the hidden power and hope.

It is up to you if you are a tiny thing without wings, or a dragon that flies freely and fulfills wishes.
